Wait for the file to download, then click the arrow to play the movie.

Transcript of movie: The brace and bit are used to make small holes in wood. The bit is made of iron and has a screw-shaped tip to drill into the wood. The other end is squared and it fits snugly into a wooden brace. The shape of the brace enables the woodworker to exert downward pressure and rotate the bit at the same time. The brace can use many different bits depending on the size hole the woodworker wants to make. Early furniture contains holes like these filled with wooden pegs to hold pieces of furniture together.
