Founded in 1935 by entrepreneur Steven Damerst, the Wellworth Pharmacy was an Amherst fixture for over 40 years. By 1940 they had expanded their offerings, promoting themselves as the only drug store in western Massachusetts to carry a complete line of cameras, camera supplies, and dark room equipment. By 1942 they had added the "Modern Luncheonette Bar" seen here.
