Summary and Objective

Students will understand that many historical figures were from the Deerfield area as well as their own and become familiar with their accomplishments.

Teaching Plan

Step 1. Students will view the digital collection in order to find the names and accomplishments of Deerfield residents.

Step 2. Students will research in their own local area to find people who resided from 1600-1900 noting their area of accomplishment.

Step 3. The teacher will discuss with the students how to create a criss cross puzzle (which is similar to a crossword puzzle) using the famous person's accomplishments as the clue.

Step 4. Students will go back to the digital website and their research on their own area in order to find information for their criss cross puzzle.

Step 5. Students will go to a puzzle making site (see links) and create a criss cross puzzle.
