Possible
Student Projects
- After completing the
activities, listening to presentations, doing your independent research, and
answering all of the questions on the "Reading and Analyzing Background
Information Using Primary and Secondary Sources" worksheet, each research
team must choose and complete two of the following activities and present
them to class.
- At least one of the projects
chosen from the list below must be a written piece that includes a thorough
description of the person, based on your research.
- Presentations should
include all team members in some way. You will have ten to fifteen minutes
to make your presentation.
- All teams must complete
a "Project Design Form" and have their projects approved by a teacher
before work can begin.
Possible Projects:
- Write the person's obituary
- Draw a map of the persons
property in Deerfield
- Create a picture or model
of the persons house, other buildings or objects owned by him/her.
- Write a journal imagining
that you are the person.
- Write a newspaper article
about an event that occurred during the persons life in which s/he was
involved.
- Write a short story or
poem about the person, or an event in his/her life.
- Create a videotape. (Talk
show, interview, reenactment, advertisement, news program, etc.)
- Create an audiotape.
(Talk show, interview, reenactment, advertisement, news program, etc.)
- Act out a scene from
a day in this persons life.
- Create a puppet show
about the person.
- Imagine that a famous
person (writer, politician, etc.) of that time visits Deerfield and meets
with your person. Create a dialogue between the two.
- Imagine you could travel
back in time and talk with your person. What five questions would you ask
him/her? What five things about your life would you tell him/her?
- Create three posters
that advertise products or services available to your person at that time.
- Create a portrait of
your person.
- Write a song about your
person, and perform it.
- Create a game/game board,
complete with instructions, that focuses on the life of your person and the
Deerfield of his/her time. (You may create this on your computer, if you are
capable of that.
