Katharine Yale Fuller wore these slipper or "pumps" when she was a young girl around the year 1900. In the 19th century a slipper did not necessarily refer to a bedroom slipper. This slipper or "pump" was probably for more formal wear. It was made inside out on a straight last, meaning that these slippers have no right or left. When done, the shoe was turned right side out.
