This report concerns the numbers of immigrants from Great Britain to the United States in the early years of the 1830s. These immigrants were not seen as a threat to American society the way other immigrant groups were because they blended into the culture. They spoke the same language and were mostly Protestants. The numbers in this report indicate that large numbers of people from Britain also went to Britain's colonies. William Butler began publication of the Hampshire Gazette on September 6, 1786, in Northampton, Massachusetts. It has been in continuous publication since then and is now called the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
