This house was in North Dana, Massachusetts. Three stories high at the back, the lower story housed a Dry Goods store. Dry Goods stores sold cloth, ribbons and other sewing materials. North Dana was one of the towns that was submerged in 1938 when the Swift River Valley was flooded to create the Quabbin Reservoir. The Quabbin provides water for Boston and other eastern Massachusetts towns.
