Colrain, Massachusetts, was settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in the mid-18th century who named their settlement after Lord Coleraine of Northern Ireland. By the 1890s the "e's" had disappeared from general usage. This postcard spells the name in a third way, "Colerain". Colrain is located on the Vermont border. The center of town has remained almost completely unchanged over the last 150 years, and was declared a state historic district in 2006.
