This census from Isaiah Thomas's 1792 almanac reveals the number of slaves in the states and territories at that time. Massachusetts (of which Maine was still a part) listed no slaves. Those who had been enslaved would at this point have been represented in the "All other free persons" column, along with Native Americans and anyone else who was not considered to be of European origin.
