This is a Mileage Ration Identification Folder issued by the Deerfield Rationing Board to Caryll Crafts of South Deerfield, Massachusetts. It identified the owner of the 20 coupons, or stamps, enclosed. These stamps entitled Mr. Crafts to purchase gasoline for his car during the period May 25, 1944 to September 3, 1944. It also identified the serial number of the coupons contained within the ration book, 5324961-5324980. Important instructions and warnings accompanied the Mileage Ration ID Folder. These instructions stated that the ration could "not be used for any purpose other than that which it was applied for and issued." Warnings included the revocation of rations and criminal prosecution for violators of gasoline regulations and the need for persons finding lost coupons to "mail and return them at once to the nearest war price and rationing board."
