Brimfield, Massachusetts, is located at the northeast corner of Hampden County. Hitchcock Free Academy, which is pictured here, was founded in 1855 by Samuel A. Hitchcock and the people of the town. Mr. Hitchcock stipulated that the school would provide a free education and would help students prepare for the "business of life". When a regional high school opened in 1954, Hitchcock Academy Community Center came to be. The mission of Hitchcock Academy is to "enrich the lives of area residents by providing educational, recreational and cultural programming for residents of all ages from the towns of Brimfield, Holland, Wales, Sturbridge and the surrounding communities."
