Summertime religious revivals out of doors served as a camping outing for the whole family. Tents on platforms set up for summer residences were placed among the trees, as this one in the 1907 photograph, with a cobblestone fireplace, a wooden floor, and chairs and beds from home. The broad veranda allows for both indoor and outdoor housekeeping.
