Frances and Mary Allen of Deerfield, Massachusetts, worked in natural settings rather than in a studio. This 'Puritan' group is the Andrews family from Deerfield and all are dressed in costumes believed to be right for the colonial period (but they are not). In 1913 both parents and all 10 children took part in the historical pageant held outdoors in Deerfield. Even baby Fredrick was dressed for the event. The 10 children of William and Lucy Andrews lived across the street from the Allen sisters and all of them became subjects for the sisters to photograph.
