THE GOVERNOR and Commander in Chief, has
accepted the Resignation of
William S. Williams, Surgeon
of the (now) First Regiment of Infantry, in the
First Brigade and Fifteenth Division of the
MILITIA of this Commonwealth ; and he is hereby
honourably discharged, at his own request, from the
Office of Surgeon in the
Regiment aforesaid. lately called the Second Regiment in the
Second Brigade and fourth Division -

The resignation of Dr. William Stoddard Williams (1762-1829) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, at age fifty, from the post of surgeon in the militia of the Commonwealth is accepted and Dr. Williams is declared "discharged." Dr. Williams, son, father, and grandfather of physicians, studied medicine with Dr. Erastus Sargeant of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and he practiced medicine from his home in Deerfield until his death in 1829.
