John Partridge Bull's oldest son, William, born in 1761, was sent to Yale for college and served in the militia during the American Revolutionary War. He was trained both as a doctor and as a blacksmith. He practiced medicine after having apprenticed to a physician in Lanesborough, Massachusetts where his uncle -- John Partridge Bull's brother -- Nehemiah Bull was a justice of the peace.
