The designs on this purple velvet cloth crown are copied from traditional Iroquois headpieces. Robin Kanseniiostah Delaronde designed the pink and light blue raised beadwork flowers and white beaded swirls after studying beadwork 18th and 19th century examples on display in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kahnawake. Delaronde is a Kanien'kehaka Mohawk in the Wolf clan and taught herself to do beadwork. She teaches elementary school in Kahnawake, Quebec, Canada.
