AID FOR IRELAND-
The principal subscriptions in this country, for the relief of the poor in
Ireland, up to the present time, as far as we can lean from the statements of
the newspapers are:- in New York, $30,000; Boston, $7,000; Philadelphia, $9,000;
Pittsburgh, $2,000; Jersey City, $1,000; Rochester, $1,000; Washington, $600;
Utica, $750; Albany, $600; Hopkinton, R. l., $350; New Bedford, (two individuals)
$700; New Orleans, $7,000; West Point, $300; Worcester, $300; Buffalo, $1100;
Syracuse, $600.
In New Orleans it has been decided to lay out all the money in grain and provisions
and freight a ship to Ireland. A ball for the benefits of Ireland was given
in Baltimore on the 13th, which was attended by 7, 000 persons.- Springfield
