By the time of this photograph, Deerfield Academy's 3-story-red-brick building had been painted white and the Academy itself had moved to the center of town. This building, designed by architect Asher Benjaminin 1797, was soon to be turned into a history museum and renamed Memorial Hall. The reason for the photograph was a reunion of former Deerfield Academy students.
