This postcard from E.L.C. [Emma Lewis Coleman] to George Sheldon is about the planned trolley route and follows up on her letter and petition (L99.120 and L99.133). She asks that Sheldon add names and information before the hearing on "Thursday." Miss Coleman and Miss Baker, as well as Mr. Sheldon, were strongly against the idea of tracks and an electric railway running through the center of their town. The 2 women wrote letters, sent around petitions, and spoke out about their views, although women in this country had not yet gotten the vote and they knew that their opinions were taken less seriously than that of men.
