Playing with dolls in the 19th century was the same as it is today. Little girls observed and often followed the same routines as their mothers in the household. A tea party was one playtime activity that imitated grown-up dining. All that was needed was a small table, a few chairs, the dolls, a tea set, such as this blue and white example, and a little imagination. This tea set is nearly complete with six cups and saucers, a teapot, sugar and creamer.
