Built in the 1760s by Jonas Locke (1727-1812), the gambrel-roofed house of the Fuller family sits near the road to the village of Deerfield, Massachusetts, south of the main street about two miles. Aaron Fuller (bap.1786-1859), father of the artist, George, bought the property in 1820 and began to farm. It is surrounded by open fields which continue to be cultivated by the present owners, descendants of Aaron Fuller.
