The Holy Name of Jesus Church was founded in 1929 in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. It is a member of the Polish National Catholic Church of America which was founded in 1897. The church originally served a predominantly Polish congregation, reflecting the background of its founders. Today, the congregation includes people of many other backgrounds. A breakaway from nearby St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, the theology is very different from that of the Vatican, and Holy Name of Jesus Church does not look to Rome for direction.
