Made in the style of a regular piece of seating furniture of the 18th century with turned posts, capped by bulbous finials, this chair with its smaller seat and longer legs allowed a child to sit at the table with other family members. To provide support, a baby could be tied into the chair. Hard use is indicated by the broken horizontal slats at the back and by the wear on the footrest at the front.
