Figurines were only one example of ceramic objects that were imported to America from England. Tablewares and teawares in great numbers were shipped to this country both before and after the American Revolution. As Americans grew wealthier, their desire for fanciful objects, in addition to practical ones, was satisfied with whimsies such as these male and female figures.
